What do we do?
Unison Chamber Music Collective performs free, professional level chamber concerts at homeless shelters, prisons, and addiction recovery centers.
We offer our programming in a unique engagement based way that meets the audience where they are, allowing their voices to be heard and valued, and giving them access to the true healing powers of this art form.

Meet Our Founder
Allyson Cohen founded Unison Chamber Music Collective to combat systemic barriers that prevent individuals from underserved communities from accessing cultural programming. Through its concerts, Unison removes barriers to classical music, providing a healing and empowering experience with no prior knowledge necessary. Allyson envisions a world where all service-oriented institutions offer high-level music programming, ensuring that everyone feels safe and welcome.
Through carefully curated concerts, Unison challenges the systemic inequities embedded in classical music. The events actively promote and feature the works of historically excluded composers in all programs, while also increasing access to live music performances for marginalized communities—many of whom have never experienced live music before. Music is more than performance; it is a vehicle for healing, connection, and cultural expression, offering hope and dignity to those who need it most.
